Biography

Dr. Mansoor Mughal joined Retina Associates in 2020. Dr. Mughal, grew up in England where he received his Masters degree in Neuroscience from the University of Cambridge graduating with Honors.  He earned his MD degree from the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, graduating with Honors. Dr. Mughal completed dual residencies in Neurology and Ophthalmology at prestigious training programs followed by Fellowship training in Glaucoma, Neuro Ophthalmology, and Vitreoretinal Surgery. He completed his two-year medical and surgical retina fellowship at Rutgers/Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and NJ Retina which are among the leading retina groups and clinical trials center in the country.

Dr. Mughal has presented at national meetings of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology and the Atlantic Coast Retina meeting. He has authored numerous scientific articles on a broad array of topics including age-related macular degeneration, advanced intraocular lens implantation techniques, anti-VEGF therapy for wet macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, endophthalmitis after pars plana vitrectomy, retinal detachment, cystoid macular edema and advances in macular hole surgery. Dr Mughal is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He was previously on the medical staff of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, and currently is on staff at Ascension St Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. He has served as sub-investigator in numerous clinical trials during his Fellowship, with significant experience in emerging therapies for macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and retinal vein occlusion. He has substantial experience with complex vitreoretinal surgical cases, and advanced intraocular lens placement techniques.  During his free time, Dr. Mughal enjoys family time, traveling, cooking, gardening and exploring the beautiful NE Florida coastline.
